Kindergarten Program

Children between the ages of 4 years and 9 months - 6 years may enter our Kindergarten Program.  The Kindergarten is a 5-day program from 8:15 AM - 12:45 PM.

The Kindergarten is a two year program.  Children learning and playing in a multi-age transitional classroom cultivate confidence, leadership and builds a more complex skill set before 1st grade.  The younger ones have the opportunity to be inspired by the older ones expertise in the yard or in the room creating, and the older ones are available to encourage and support their younger peers.  The social dynamics of our Kindergarten make way for a more complex social environment.

The Kindergarten offers a nurturing environment in which the young child enters into imaginative and dynamic play.  Children coming from the Preschool are ready for artistic activities including drawing, watercolor painting, baking, handwork, seasonal crafts, woodworking, and beeswax modeling.  Outdoor play includes hiking, gardening, tree climbing, and experiencing all the elements and expansiveness that nature and the seasons offer.  Circle time is based on a rich storytelling curriculum of fairy tales, puppet plays, and dramatic renditions of stories.

We strive to meet the needs of the whole child as a thinking, feeling, and moving being upon the earth as well as recognize them as a part of a group.  We place a strong focus on social health and inclusion.  Waldorf education is a social education.

Led by experienced Waldorf teachers, our Kindergarten Program offer parents support in child development and education while preparing for entry into the elementary grades

"No age has a deeper impact on the whole of life than the first years of childhood. "During those first seven years, children develop their bodily foundation for life."
